Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM named finalist for Best College Radio Station of the Year

The College Media Association named Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM a finalist Aug. 24 for Best College Radio Station of the Year in the organization’s annual Pinnacle Awards competition.
Rowan Radio joins stations from Michigan State University, North Carolina State University, and Oregon State University vying for the title of Best College Radio Station of the Year among schools with at least 10,000 students.
Last October, WGLS-FM won Best Four-Year College Radio Station of the Year in the Pinnacle Awards competition. Overall, this is the fourth finalist nomination for Rowan Radio. The station received finalist honors in 2013, 2017, and 2022 in this competition.
The winner will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Atlanta, Ga., during the 2023 Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Association National College Media Convention.
The Pinnacle Awards, presented by College Media Association, annually recognize the best in individual and organizational college media.
“I’m extremely proud,” said WGLS-FM Station Manager Derek Jones. “For almost 60 years, Rowan Radio has served the Rowan and South Jersey communities with music, news, sports and interview programming while providing a training ground for aspiring broadcasters. To be included among the finalists is a very big honor.”
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM has received over 360 regional and national awards since 1993.
