Rowan Radio wins two Communicator Awards of Excellence

In the 18th annual Communicator Awards competition, WGLS-FM has been awarded two Crystal Awards of Excellence for productions by Rowan Radio staff members in its 2012 International competition.

Talk show Studio 89.7 won an Award of Excellence in the Talk Radio category. The winning episode featured an interview with host Paul Perrello and his guest, legendary Philadelphia broadcaster Jerry Blavat. The duo discussed Blavats broadcasting career and his rise to popularity. This is the second major award for this show.

Building a Boulevard, which tells the story of the public-private partnership to connect the University with Glassboro's historic downtown also won in the Audio Production category. The documentary was produced by three Rowan seniors: Chris Capitanio of Glassboro, Maya Carr of Camden, and James Bracciante of Mullica Hill. The 30-minute documentary was made in conjunction with WGLS-FM Assistant Station Manager Derek Joness Radio Production class.
