New Milford native Rob Ryan, a member of the Rowan University Class of 1997, is being inducted into the WGLS-FM Hall of Fame at Rowan.
Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM will recognize his achievements, as well as those of Gary D'Aiutolo of Washington Township, a member of the Class of 2000, at the WGLS Hall of Fame induction at the station's eighth annual banquet on Thursday, April 19, in Williamstown.
Rayan, now a resident of Winooski, Vt., is a sports broadcaster for the University of Vermont. He is entering his fourth year covering Catamounts athletics, and serves as play-by-play voice for women's hockey on CatamounTV and all athletics telecasts on WCAXtra.
He also works with Northeast Sports Network as play-by-play broadcaster for a variety of sports across the state of Vermont, as well as hosting a daily two-hour sports talk show.
Previously, Ryan was the radio broadcast voice of the Vermont men's basketball team.
From 2008-11, he worked for the Vermont Lake Monsters professional baseball team, and was program director and a talk show host on 101.3 ESPN, as well as the operations manager overseeing programs at three other stations.
During his tenure at Rowan Radio, Ryan was the broadcaster for a variety of sports, including football, soccer, field hockey, baseball, and softball.
He was part of the team that covered the Profs 1996 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Championship and was a member of WGLS-FM staff in 1996, when the station was named the National Association of College Broadcasters Radio Station of the Year.
Prior to relocating to Vermont, Ryan was operations manager and program director for six radio stations in North Jersey for more than 10 years.
In 2007, he was named the winner of the Clear Channel Radio Crystal Club Award.
