Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM will bring the sounds of two important community events to the airwaves this spring.

On Saturday, April 17, the award-winning station will present a live broadcast from the Earth Day celebration at Washington Township's Washington Lake Park. The broadcast will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The celebration will promote conservation, preservation and environmental education.

On Saturday, May 1, WGLS-FM will broadcast live from Harrison Township Day at Ella Harris Park. The broadcast will run from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Harrison Township Day begins with a 9 a.m. parade and ends with fireworks at dusk. In between, there will be amusements, crafts and vendors, a “Harrison Idol” contest, and other entertainment.

“At Rowan Radio, we stress the importance of community service to our students,” says station general manager Frank Hogan.

“Opportunities such as Earth Day and Harrison Township Day give our students the chance to get involved in our local communities and, at the same time, also learn what goes into broadcasting live events.”
