GLASSBORO -- Rowan University's college radio station, WGLS-FM, recently inducted the late dean of the College of Communication into its the Hall of Fame.
Dr. Craig Monroe died Dec. 31 after a short illness. He is the lone 2009 inductee into the hall, according to station general manager Frank Hogan.
“Dr. Monroe was a big supporter of WGLS-FM,” said Hogan, noting that, during his five-year tenure as dean of the college, Monroe was instrumental in securing funding for the station's AudioVault digital system. “He was an important member of the Rowan Radio family.”
Monroe joined Rowan in 2003 and enjoyed a career in higher education that spanned four decades. A memorial service for Monroe will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Eynon Ballroom of Rowan's Chamberlain Student Center.
The Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM Hall of Fame honors alumni, faculty or staff who have been instrumental in the growth and development of the station and who have been long-term supporters of WGLS-FM and the University.
