A 30-minute documentary on the future of New Jersey farming has claimed the title as the most-awarded radio documentary in the history of Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM.

“Fading Farms & Saving Grace: Preserving the Garden State,” a documentary produced last fall by Rowan University students Julia Giacoboni and Brian Kanady, received three awards in the past week, giving it a total of nine awards—the most ever won by a single Rowan Radio documentary.

The documentary was recently named “Best College Documentary” in a national college competition presented by College Broadcasters, Inc. Additionally, the piece won a silver Davey Award, an international, invitation-only competition judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts.

At the Philadelphia Achievement in Radio Awards, “Fading Farms & Saving Grace” was named best college radio documentary.

The documentary also has been honored by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association, the Philadelphia Press Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Communicator Awards, the Broadcast Education Association, and the Summit International Awards.

Giacoboni, of Cedarville, is a senior radio/television/film major at Rowan. Kanady, who earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Rowan in May, is a resident of Upper Pittsgrove.
