Philanthropist, actor, writer, entrepreneur, singer: all of these words describe legendary actor of the stage and screen, Paul Sorvino ("Dick Tracy"). A man who grew up in New York City and would go on to study music and acting under a scholarship.

With countless projects under his belt, Sorvino has had ample time to make his name known among cinemagoers.

Recently, Sorvino sat down with Rowan Radio, 89.7 WGLS-FM host Paul Perello on Monday to discuss Sorvino's current and upcoming projects. The Pauls had an exchange over Sorvino's food company, Paul Sorvino Foods, Inc. Sorvino takes great pride in his line of food, claiming to use only the finest ingredients in his line. He mentioned that he wished to make food that was superior to the standard style of Italian food distributed in the United States.

Perello asked Sorvino about his recent project, "Greetings from the Shore." Sorvino, who plays Catch Turner in the movie, talked passionately about the project. He said that he was drawn to the script by the old-fashioned style of the story that was written in the modern vernacular. He said that the film is certain to draw tears from any audience who goes to bear witness.

Sorvino said that there was another reason he chose the script, to help show another, more accurate portrayal of New Jersey. He expressed his regret that New Jersey is often portrayed poorly in the popular consciousness due to people's misconceptions, viewing the Garden State as a bastion of filth and pollution. He applauded the film for showing the natural beauty of the state landscape that is so often taken for granted.

Sorvino, whose career in films started in 1970, has always sought out different kinds of roles.

"Frankly, if I had to play the same role every time I'd blow my brains out!" said Sorvino.

Sorvino, who is best associated with mafia films such as "Mafia Doctor," has always taken great pride in his work. He also is also the father of actress Mira Sorvino ("Romey and Michelle's High School Reunion"). "Greetings from the Shore" premieres this Friday, for more information refer to the film's preview on below.

Perrelo's talk show airs every second Monday at 5:30 p.m. on Rowan Radio. Each month he talks to different celebrities, newsmakers and authors.
