Rowan's accredited radio station, 89.7 WGLS-FM, is a finalist in the CBI National Student Production Award competition for its show, "The Women's Room: Preserving the life of Alice Paul" hosted by Julia Giacoboni. Nominated for "best feature," the show focused on the life and times of Alice Paul and the Alice Paul Institute, which was founded by Barbara Irvine, whom was interviewed during the show.

Irvine discussed the life of the activist outlined the institute's work in trying to preserve Paulsdale, the birthplace of Paul.

Paul was born in Moorestown, NJ, in 1885. In her early childhood she was influenced by the Quaker beliefs and in turn her educational studies followed suit. She was a huge advocate of women's rights in the 20th century.

"It means a lot for each particular group of kids. It's a big deal to the station but it's a bigger deal to the student's involved," said Assistant Station Manager Derek Jones. "It shows the dedication they put into their program."

The winners will be announced during the annual CBI/College Media Advisers/Associated collegiate Press national college media conference Oct. 25 to 28 in Washington, D.C. "The Women's Room" is a 30-minute program that airs Thursday at 5 p.m. on WGLS-FM 89.7.
