Football games, women's program among shows
Rowan University events, such as football games and talk shows, will now be featured in podcasts, so listeners can take the game with them.
Frank Hogan, general manager of 89.7 WGLS-FM said a joint decision was made at the Rowan radio station to feature podcasts on its Web site for the campus community, and parents.
"We have already heard from several parents who are thrilled to be able to download the games to their iPods," said Hogan in a recent statement.
Hogan, in an interview on Monday, said Rowan shows such as "Your Health Matters" with Dr. Craig Wax and "The Women's Room will be featured. Rowan's recent convocation ceremony and all football games are available for download. This is also the first year that Glassboro High School football games will be broadcast on WGLS, and they will also be available on podcasts.
"It's all a public service," said Hogan. "It's a triage of things." Programs dating back to 1995 will be featured, said Hogan, primarily Henry Rowan's press conference when he announced he was donating $100 million to the school. "It's a good 12-year history of the university," said Hogan.
Listeners can tune in to WGLS podcasts by visiting the station?s new Web site, www.wgls.rowan.edu and following the podcasts link.
Hogan hopes to open up the podcasts choices over the course of the school year. "We will expand it," said Hogan. "We have about seven students working on the project. I got a good group. It should be an interesting project."
