Voice for Choice gives another chance to hear Campus Call-In

Dear Editor,

We are baffled by Matt Wisniewski’s version of WGLS’ Campus Call-In: the Abortion Issue. We have listened to the program together as an organization and we agreed that both women were intelligent and well-spoken on the issue, as we are all aware of due to our interaction with her on different occasions.

Mr. Wisniewski cited the pro-choice caller’s repeated verbal attack on Linda Moore as “the diversion which led to Elizabeth Volt’s ‘game of dodge ball.’” The questions asked by callers were not controlled by WGLS, Ms. Volt, nor Ms. Moore. Therefore they were not responsible for the diversion of the issue being discussed when it was the callers who changed the topics.

For those who are also baffled by Matt Wisniewski’s comments in the October 10 issue of the Whit and those who have not had the opportunity to hear the Campus Call-In in question, we invite you to our Open House to listen to a tape of the program. You are invited for yourself. Voice for Choice’s Open House is on Tuesday, October 29, at 7 p.m. in Student Center Room 44.

WGLS staff members present fair approach on controversial issue

I do not know what radio show Matt Wisniewski was listening to (Re: Letter; Whit 10/10/91) but I have listened to my tape of the recent WGLS Campus Call-In on abortion several times and found no grounds for the accusations against the pro-choice speakers on the program. I thought both Elizabeth Volt and Linda Moore represented their opposing sides of the abortion issue in a respectful and intelligent manner as did the caller from both camps. WGLS staff members are to be commended for their professional and fair approach on such a sensitive issue.

Same show, different views

After reading a recent letter in the Whit about the WGLS “Abortion Call-In” show, I’m not sure that Matt and I were listening to the same show. He seems to think that Elizabeth was able to play “an incredible game of dodgeball” with the issues, but this had less to do with anything that Elizabeth herself had done than with the total inability of Linda Moore to raise any logical arguments supporting her beliefs. Instead, Linda (the President of Gloucester County Right to Life) insulted our intelligence by using only emotionally loaded propaganda. I would like to suggest that Matt listen to a taping of the show because it seems that he missed at least half of it the first time.
