Rowan University offers a summer camp for middle school students with special needs

GLASSBORO — For the second year, Rowan University is hosting a summer camp for middle school students with Asperger syndrome or high-functioning autism.
An information session about The Young Profs Exploration Camp will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 221 of the Chamberlain Student Center.
The camp is open to youth between the ages of 10 and 15 who have Asperger syndrome or high-functioning autism. The Young Profs Exploration Camp allows individuals to come to Rowan and participate in various summer camp activities.
The camp will run July 23 to 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camp counselors will be Rowan students who work as coaches in the Academic Success Center. All counselors have experience working with people with special needs.
Faculty from the colleges of engineering, education and fine and performing arts also will work with the campers. Campers will visit Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS-FM and Edelman Planetarium during their week at Rowan.
